Correlation Between F-value and Sliver Index for Ultra-low Carbon Steel Grades at ArcelorMittal Dofasco's No. 1 Continuous Caster

ArcelorMittal Dofasco's Steelmaking Unit is divided into two streams: the KOBM Stream and the EAF Stream. In the KOBM stream, two blast furnaces feed a combined blown oxygen furnace from which tapped heats are refined at the Ladle Metallurgy Facility (LMF1) and cast at the twin strand No. 1 Continuous Caster (CC). The EAF stream has a twin shell electric arc furnace from which tapped heats are refined at LMF2 and cast at the single strand No. 2 CC. Both streams produce 218-mm steel slabs covering a full range of grades and sizes. Grades range from ultra low carbon (LJLC) grades for deep drawing applications to high carbon grades for structural applications.
