A 1-D hydrodynamic model has been used to simulate the formation and drift of two cluster species in oxygen, in the parallel plate discharge gap of a pulsed Townsend experiment. The reaction scheme considers the three-body formation of O_2~- by electron impact, followed by three-body, secondary and tertiary reactions leading to the formation of O_4~- and O_6~-. From thesimulated density distributions, the transient currents were deduced and compared with the experiment at ambient temperature and relatively high pressures (100-600 Torr) and over a short range of E/N reduced electric field strength (2-8Td). The comparison between measured and simulated current waveforms has been successful.
