Control of Emissions by Additives

Experience gained in other sectors suggests that solutions to meet IMO Tier III NOx limits in marine engines could cause an increase in the amount of soot and particulate matter produced. Based on experience gained with heavy duty diesel automotive and locomotive engines, Infineum has developed an additive to reduce the amount of soot produced in the combustion process. Testing of this additive in a slow speed engine and in a furnace has shown that it gives a cleaner engine, less smoke and lower concentrations of particulate matter in the exhaust gas.
