On Mobility of MANETs-Overlaid P2P Rings

In the past decade, commercial success of peer-to-peer (P2P) systems has triggered active research on synergy of P2P systems and mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). The paper proposes Mobile Ring Ad-hoc Networks (MRAN) protocol to solve the mobility disturbance problem of mobile P2P rings over MANETs. Based upon inter-neighbor message passing, MRAN is a decentralized ring construction protocol. It covers not only initialization but also maintenance of MANETs-based P2P rings. Simulation results show that MRAN works well with mobility disturbance. We found that upper bound of mobility, i.e. maximum speed of nodes, is a function of network size. Comparison with low mobility conditions is provided.
