In the paper, a special towering trestle crane assembled with 64-type beams and 65-type piers was designed. The paper includes four parts. Above all, the paper introduced the background of the design of the special towering trestle crane and the general situation of the project of hoisting the oversize chemical equipments.The special towering trestle crane was used to erect five huge chemical equipments, which are compound condenser, gasification furnace, gas returning chamber,gas delivery pipe and flying ash filter, for the Dalian Chemical Industry Group Company. In the second place,the structure and machine of the design of the special towering trestle crane was introduced in detail. The main distinct parameters (or the design difficulties) of the crane are as follows :the whole height is 95 meters ; the clear hoisting height is 85 meters ; the span of the crane girder is 32 meters ; the rated load is 320 tons, and so on. The above difficulties are settled well through adopting new-style structure assembled with 64-type beams and 65-type piers, partial reinforcing measures and detailed compute analysis. In the third place, the paper discussed the installation measures, the test process and the test result of the special towering trestle crane. In the last place,the paper introduced the application of the crane in erecting the five oversize chemical equipments. The successful designing and using of the towering trestle crane in the project of erecting the oversize chemical equipments ( the maximum length of the equipment is 37 meters ; the maximum weight is 320 tons; the maximum installing altitude is 85 meters .) is the first time in China and has made notable gains in society benefits and economic benefits.
