For a number of years, GE Energy has successfully applied the use of low frequency, high - energy sound waves to clean, and improve the performance, reliability and efficiency of electrostatic precipitators, Nox SCR catalysts and utility boilers. As an alternative to traditional cleaning methods, the results obtained with acoustic cleaning h have been significant and range ave from improved operating costs to reduced labor and maintenance. The paper will discuss the principles behind acoustic cleaning technology, its applications and advantages over other cleaning systems. It will also illustrate t the experiences gained by two coal he coalfired plants located in -fired Thailand and China, which have been using acoustic cleaning systems for over a year. The case studies will include problem definition, recommended solutions and benefits obtained.
