Current Status and Trend of Mass Flow Rate Measurement Techniques of Pulverized Coal in Boiler at Power Plant

The measurement techniques of pulverized coal mass flow rate have great concern with safe and economic operation of power plant. It is important to control the pulverized coal mass flow rate effectively to improve the security and efficiency of power plant boiler. But the techniques in existence can not meet the measurement's need because of the complexity and randomicity of gas-solid two phase flow[10]. So a great of new methods has been put forward according to different principles. After the explanation on the status of mass flow rate measurement techniques in power plant and a compare among the new techniques for measurement, including microwave methods process tomography method, ray-absorption method, hot balance method, pressure drop method ,etc, the advantage and shortage of these new techniques are showed in the end. The results indicate that the new techniques is feasible in principle, but also needs to be improved on so as to resolve many problems measurement, and a further popularization and application of new techniques is required ultimately.
