Intranasal dosage forms of nicotine for prolonged delivery

In order to acheive a prolonged delivery of nicotine to systemic circulation by way of a intranasal route, various delivery systems including proliposomes were evalauted for the feasibility as novel nicotine delivery systems~1. Prior to the evalaution, pharmacokinetics of nicotine (base) and nicotine hydrogen tartarate (salt) in rats was compared~2.
