It is well known that the state of mesophase transformation defines the ultimate microstructures in coke and graphite products. In order to remove the primary QI, a coal tar was flashed, and then heat-treated to be an appropriate delayed coker feedstock. However, it was found that the heat-treatment conditions had a significant effect on the mesophase transformation of the as-heat-treated coal tar.
