Multi-colour Stenciling Printing Craft Features and Current Situation in Tongxiang City

Multi-Colour Stenciling Printing is a Chinese traditional handwork dyeing craft, which has developed over a thousand years in Yangtze River region.Currently the traditional handcraft has gradually been fading from people’s memory due to the rapid development of the modern printing technology and its industrialization popularly.There is still preserve of the multi-color stenciling printing in Tongxiang city,locates at north of Zhejiang Province ,which still keeps the antiquity handicraft as the local distinct wedding tradition.By substantive on-the-spot investigation,object analysis and together with the craft testings,the study systematically investigated and analyses the traditional multi-color stenciling printing’s procedure,technical requirements and the handcraft’s features.The study with a critical analysis of the craft aims to evoke more attention from textile design fellows and carry forward the traditionla craft forward.
