Comparison of External Carbon Sources for a Polishing Partial Denitrification/Anammox MBBR

The purpose of this study was to optimize carbon addition to an anoxic partial denitrification/anammox (AMX) MBBR testing three different carbon sources to maximize TIN removal through the AMX pathway and to minimize effluent TIN. Based on data from the pilot, this tertiary treatment step has shown to be a viable nitrogen polishing option.
