Nanofiber-Based Analgesic Bandages for Localized Treatment of Neuropathic Pain

Luna has demonstrated that liposomes can be loaded with drugs, incorporated within core-sheath nanofiber bandages, and then be modified in a manner that results in preferential targeting of nerve cells. The dressings possess mechanical and handling properties appropriate for use, allow oxygen and water vapor penetration, and have been demonstrated biocompatible. These dressings will next be applied to animal models of neuropathic pain, and production will be scaled-up.
