The world is witnessing a new industrial revolution, which is the generation 4.0 of the industry and many jobs will be related to the development, production and use of connected objects. Thus, the field of microelectronics, at the heart of these objects, increasingly needs specialists. Unfortunately, young people are less and less attracted to science, electrical engineering and microelectronics. The French Higher Education Network in Microelectronics and Nanotechnology, which includes twelve interuniversity centers, is financially supported by a national project on innovation that contains a work-package devoted to raising awareness among high-schoolers. In this way, classes of high-schoolers can experience the fabrication, design and characterization of electronic devices. In 2011, the Grenoble center started hosting secondary classes for a one-day course on its platforms. This activity made it necessary to adapt the training content. To this end, recent practical training courses have been set up. After a presentation of the context of microelectronics, the document deals with the organization and presentation of the practical training dedicated to schools on the platforms of higher education. The effectiveness of this experiment will then be discussed. As a main result, this approach has been extended to other centers in the national network.
