In this paper, we have presented first-order statistical properties of a η-μ random process and also first-order statistical properties of resulting signal in case of SC diversity combining technique when employed for reducing the influence of η-μ fading of the performance of wireless telecommunications systems. Analysis is performed for a two-branch SC combining. η-μ fading model is used to model propagation in non-homogenous environment, for the cases when optical visibility between transmitter and receiver is not available. We have determined probability density function, cumulative distribution function, signal moments, variance, characteristic function and channel capacity for the system model in question. Obtained results are presented graphically and the results for outage probability and average bit-error rate are discussed for various modulation formats.
