The increase quantity of hazardous materials in recent years has led to serious accidents in the process of transportation; it has been difficult for transportation management to adapt. This paper examined hazardous materials road transportation accidents that occurred from 2015 to 2016, including accident characteristics, date of accident, accident location, accident time, type of accident, number of vehicles involved in accidents, vehicle type, and number of injuries. Temporal and spatial distributions of hazardous materials transportation accidents were analyzed using statistical analysis and comparative analysis, and the relationship between potential factors and the accident severity was summarized. The results show that injury severity is associated with the accident types. The results of the paper provide theory basis for hazardous materials transportation enterprises and improve the scientific nature and effectiveness of the safety management work. It endorses quick response to road accidents involving hazardous materials, which has very important theoretical significance and practical value.
