The universal method for evaluating the waveform has been developed. The nature of the input signal has described by the source current in the time and frequency domains. This method takes into account the possibility of joint and separate consideration of evaluation criteria such as, duty cycle, the ratio of local maxima, the width of the spectrum at a certain level, and so on. A number of modeling calculations of functions has performed that determine the dependences of source current pulse on the time and frequency, as well as the estimation itself. These calculations has been supplemented by a general analysis. The method of evaluation considered gives a numerical equivalent of a set of qualitative criteria. The proposed evaluation could be applied for the selection of the generator and its options at the input of measuring devices of various types associated with the study of electromagnetic waves. The spectrum of types of signals, which has been analyzed and determined by a set of criteria.
