Microgrids (MGs), powered by renewable energy sources (RES), represents a green and sustainable way to supply electricity. The variability of the RES based energy production can affect the stability and reliability of the Grid. Appropriate energy storage can overcome the mentioned problems. Pumped storage presents some advantages over other storage methods. The paper presents research results on how to increase the efficiency of the pumped storage systems under variable power conditions.
