The addition of Cu, Co and Cr to the Ni/SBA-15 catalyst helps to form smaller crystallites of the Ni phase, mainly in the case of the Ni-Cr/SBA-15 sample, which also shows a reduction profile shifted towards higher temperatures. Ni/SBA-15 and bimetallic catalysts reached similar catalytic results in furfural and phenol steam reforming, giving high conversions and hydrogen production. Regarding coke formation, Ni-Cr/SBA-15 sample shows lowest values.
