MoniSen aims to introduce a new granularity level for precision agriculture monitoring applications, with focus on monitoring environmental parameters for green house applications. The final objective is to empower farmers to take the next step towards precision agriculture. This project also lays the infrastructural foundation for tackling the main methods of saving and optimization resources in agriculture for the specific plant growth periods. The current paper is focused on the main hardware solution developed and tested, discussing advantages and disadvantages compared to other existing modules on market. MoniSen consists of a distributed hardware system and embedded software able to monitor several environmental parameters (temperature and humidity, both in the ground and in the air and light intensity).
