Four-link portal crane, which possesses advantages of efficient operational capability, low operating costs and flexible mobility, is widely used in transport and stacking operations at the port. As a core component of four-link portal crane, the design of combination boom will directly affect the performance of the machine[1]. In this paper, a detailed element model was established and each mode of vibration was calculated. Also this paper conducted a transient dynamic simulation and obtained dynamic response to the combination boom. This approach not only makes the arm frame dynamic response obtained at the design stage, which laid the foundation for evaluating the fatigue life, but also provides a theoretical basis for the design of the portal crane arm structure.
