Da-Hong Wang's idea of Chinese in practice-Focusing on Wang's housing projects in 1945-55

Da-Hong Wang (1918-) is a Taiwanese architect who has devoted his career to find a definition of Chinese architecture in modern time and he also a pioneer who brought the idea of modern life into Taiwan.Wang's aim as being an architect is to create a life style belongs exclusively to Chinese, which means his concerns of modem life relates to an idea of Chinese.However, his idea of Chinese doesn't mean to copy traditional Chinese architecture, it relates with expression of space and human experience.For Wang, he has focused on housing design.Therefore, this paper will study how Wang practiced his idea of Chinese by examining three typical housing projects in his early period.
