The Open Computational Framework (OpenCF)[4, 8] is intended to ease the access to high performance computing resources for those users willing to use them. Our main focus is to diminish the significant barrier (with regard to technology and learning) users face when trying to access High Performance Computing Systems (HPCS). Computational web portals based on the client/server paradigm have emerged as an alternative for those users. The solutions presented vary from static ad-hoc portals for specific applications on specific parallel machines, to more general and complete solutions. In these environments the user is provided with web interfaces or other software infrastructures that supply easy and secure access to various resources, including different architectures and applications. While these projects share ideas, concepts and goals, in practice, the differences between them are high-lighted by their specific implementations. As WS technology comes into its own and consolidates as a standard, it appears as a true alternative for developing such computational web portals. The OpenCF can be grouped with this set of projects that provide generic solutions using Web Services-based technologies. Among the stated facilities provided in OpenCF we can mention: a generic computational framework that can run out of the box, ease to use and install, compatible with the security policies and resource managers of the HPCS sites, supported on standard, generic, portable and open source technologies, compact and highly efficient due to the low resource requirements and flexible to be enlarged with new computational proposals. In this work we enumerate some new facilities that are currently under development to enlarge the system, and several challenges that are still in our agenda. In section 4 we point out some of the issues appearing when exporting a high number of routines as services and the contributions in OpenCF in this topic. The automatic service/resource scheduling is also a matter of interest in this project that is described in section 5. Finally, we discuss in section 6 about a command line client interface for OpenCF under development. This interface will ease for the service composition and orchestration.
