Application of Big Data Technology in News Analytics on Social Networks

As the media environment changes rapidly, social networks have become the main source for the public to obtain news, and the level of social engagement with digital content has also become an important indicator to measure the effectiveness of dissemination. NewsWhip is a representative company that analyze digital content in social networks with data science. Through the research on the data collection and processing flow, as well as its functions and features, we found that NewsWhip monitors digital object sources and social networks continuously, and analyzes the level of social networks activities of any newly generated digital object, then ranks the digital objects with the rate of change in activity on social networks. Publishers who utilize the products provided by NewsWhip, can discover, select news topics more effectively.
