A Method for Requesting Power-Conservation Considering Diversification of Consumers’ Behavior in an Electricity Market

Negawatt trading is a type of trading with electrical power saved by consumers and expected to suppress peak power consumption in an electricity market. However, the negawatt power is likely to lead to instability in power-supply because consumers’ behavior for power-conservation is unpredictable. This unstable negawatt power prevents a power-supply system from maintaining reliable and accommodating demand. This paper proposes a method to request consumers to save power in order to make negawatt power stable. Our method involves the diversification of consumers’ behavior. Some experimental results demonstrate the relation between consumers’ behavioral changes and instability of negawatt power.
