Research on color selection and setting method is lacking which has limited the application of thin-layer antiskid colored pavement greatly. This article considers specifically the driving environment in tunnels and analyzes three aspects including the characteristics of brightness, the psychological effects of color, and night-time identification of color. Ultimately, the color yellow was selected as the surface color of thin-layer antiskid colored pavement. According to the relationship between variety velocity of pupil area and variety of luminance, the method of mixing glass beads into thin-layer antiskid colored pavement was made to increase luminance of the thin-layer's surface. The method can alleviate a driver's visual load caused by rapid variety of luminance at a tunnel's entrance and exit. Optimal appending proportion was determined by the reflectivity experiment. The DIALux software was used to evaluate the effect of this method. The results showed that luminance of pavement increased by 40% ~ 60% at the tunnel's entrance and exit. tunnel; thin-layer antiskid colored pavement; luminance; visual load; glass beads
