The work presented in this article makes an evaluation of a supporting system for modularized oil process plant used in ship shaped floating unit, through the monitoring of displacements and strain on the support structures of the modules on the deck (stools). The study case is the Floating Production Unit P-53 (Figure 1) of PETROBRAS. She left the shipyard in October 2008 and today it is on operation under the environmental conditions of the Campos Basin (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). The answers to some questions raised here are relevant to the structural design of this supporting configuration, to the its calculation methodology, or even to further revision of this application on future projects.
