Hydroxyethyl chitosan (HEC) xanthate was blended with cellulose xanthate in alkaline solution and Hydroxyethyl chitosan/Viscose rayon fibers (HCVFs) were spun. The structure and properties were investigated. The results showed that HECs was introduced into the fibers successfully and blended with cellulose uniformly. By addition of HECs, the strength of HCVFs in dry and wet state decreases comparing to viscose rayon slightly, whereas, the ability of moisture absorption, dyeing property and antistatic property enhances. The fiber has effective antibacterial effects on E.coli.
