摘要

This study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxicity and the local neurotoxicity of a novel formulation of the local anesthetic ropivacaine complexed with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin. Cytotoxicity tests were carried out in primary Schwann cell cultures and the histopathological evaluation of the rat sciatic nerve was used to observe local neurotoxicity effects. The results revealed that the new formulation did not cause local neurotoxicity and induced a similar cytotoxicity effect when compared with the treatment with ropivacaine solution.
