Dr. Lillian Gilbreth is generally recognized as one of the instrumental founders of the fields of IndustrialEngineering and Scientific Management, and their applications across a wide range of workplace and home settings.She is remembered as the first female member of the National Academy of Engineering and included on a “GreatAmericans” US postage stamp. The Gilbreth Collection at Purdue University traces her significant influences onindustry, home life, and even household architectural design from the 1910s through the 1960s. This paper providesa brief overview of Dr. Gilbreth’s contributions and influences on Purdue and the Industrial Engineering profession.
