CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR TRENCHLESS PIPELINE RENEWAL PROJECTS

The Trenchless pipeline renewal industry has grown, over the last 25-30 years, with the launching of numerous new technologies. Trenchless renewal however, is exponentially more complicated than the traditional excavate, remove the old pipe and replace with a new pipe approach. Considering that these technologies are more complicated, a very common approach for accepting trenchless construction is "if it looks good it must be installed correctly". This of course is inadequate and good quality inspection during construction is needed. This paper will look at the inspection requirements of other industries and what inspection requirements are necessary for the trenchless pipe renewal industry.
