摘要

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a sole member of the genus Hepevims in family Hepeviridae. HEV infection in human is a major course of acute sporadic hepatitis in many areas of Asia, Africa and Mexico. HEV is globally distributed and is transmitted enterically as well as between humans and animals. It has been shown that several animal species worldwide were infected with HEV, suggesting that hepatitis E may be zoonotic. The first animal strain of HEV, i.e. swine HEV, was isolated from piglets in the US in 1997 (Meng, et. al., 1997). Since then, HEV has been under consideration as a zoonotic disease. Zoonotic spreads of HEV is indicated by the fact that human and swine isolates of HEV are quite similar in terms of nucleotide sequence and experimental cross-species transmission of swine HEV to a chimpanzee and of human HEV to swine have been demonstrated. The objective of this study was to assess of antibody to swine hepatitis E virus in the western part of Thailand which is the greatest comprehensive pig farms for confinement the future study.
