The results obtained show that the use of florfenicol has a positive influence on the ponderal development (weight gain) of swines from a farm tested positive for ileitis. Besides the medical treatment, handling measures should be adjusted to improve the efficacy of treatment. The use of 40 ppm of florfenicol* (2 kg of the commercial product) was capable of eliminating the causing agent of ileite (Lawsonia intracellularis) shown by PCR.
