Discrete mathematics contains many knowledge points and various branches, so beginners often find it difficult to learn.Research has shown that mind map has obvious effect in enhancing memory, improving the organization, digestion and assimilation of related knowledge; while concept map has obvious effect in constructing knowledge network, condensing knowledge structure, improving students' ability in self-study, ways of thinking, self-reflection, etc. The author, in teaching discrete mathematics, guides the students to use mind map and concept map in their after-class revision. Mind map is used to organize the thinking, while concept map is used to illustrate the relations between different concepts in every chapter; they help the students to overcome the bewilderment caused by the intricacy of the many knowledge points. Experiment shows that the application of mind map and concept map has a favorable effect in instruction.
