Mg-Al-CO_3 layered double hydroxides (LDHs) were prepared and characterised. Calcination at 400 °C led to a phase transformation from a highly crystalline LDH form to an amorphous mixed oxide solution form. CO_2 adsorption measurements reveal that ~ 86 % of the total adsorption is reversible. 98 % of the initial adsorption capacity is regained on regeneration of the sample at 400 °C. Stability and regenerability of the sample are demonstrated with consistent adsorption uptakes after repeated adsorption/desorption cycles.
