Drug Release and Spectroscopic Examination of an Ion Exchange Resin

The performance of an Ethylcellulose coatingapplied to a sustained release drug resin complexutilizing an ion exchange resin with and without aswelling agent was evaluated. The drug releaseprofiles were not significantly impacted by thepresence of a swelling agent. Two spectroscopymethods were also used to examine and map thechemical components of the sustained release DRC.Both STXM and SR -FTIR were capable ofdetecting the presence of the components.
