The 3-D profile measurement instrument based on multi-line-structure light is a typical application in fastreverse engineering. The extraction of light knife’s centers in the images captured is the key step of the measuringprocedure, and its precision and speed greatly affect the performance of the whole system. This paper presents a newmethod based on line region which can locate light knife’s center at a high speed by using background gray value andthe gray-relativity between lines. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated from a practicalapplication.
