The normal mode helical antenna is commonly used for business radio terminals close to the human abdomen. Thus, one important consideration involves the interaction of the radiated electromagnetic fields with nearby biological tissue. The operator's influence on radiation, and impedance characteristics of the dipole antenna has been investigated by the moment method (1), (2). This paper presents an analysis on the impedance and radiation characteristics of the normal mode helical antenna to estimate the influence of the human abdomen at 150MHz.
