Japan is a world-wide famous country where many earthquakes occur. The Hyogoken-Nanbu Earthquake occurred five years ago. and the precious human lives more than 6400 people and huge sum of properties were lost in an instant. Particularly, whne the social systems in daily life become larger and more complicated, the earthquake disaster becomes more serious against the same sclae earthquake. In order to minimize the earthquake disaster against the huge earthquake which might occur in the future, the trend of earthquake-proof design to construct safer machines and structures have bene surveyed during several decades. Furthermore, regarding many seismic studies using the large scale seismic shaking table, the safer earthquake-proof design with respect to the industrial machines and systems are looked over for the future.
