Safety environmental risk data base (SERIDA)

In the Netherlands establishments should describe the occupational hazards, the external risk and environmetnal risk in a safety report. Reliable, up-to-data information on the properties of substances is essential to evaluate the hazards for humans and the envrionments. Although there are many sources, especially for toxicological properties these are, however, not aloways available or interpretable for everybody and sometimeseven conflict with each other. For this reason, in the Netherlands the software application SERIDA is made to provide one source of substance information known and accepted by establishments and competent authorities. SERIDA can also be used to evaluate whether an establishment falls under the requirements of the SEVESO II Directive. This paper will focus on the substances and substance properties included in SERIDA, with special focus on the derivation of human toxicological data. Further, the SERIDA calculation modules are described along with anticipated developments in SERIDA.
