摘要

The use of power system stabilizer or controlled series capacitor to provide stability support in power systems has been the focus of much research. In this paper, the single machine infinite bus system is investigated and generator load and external impedance conditions are identified that require additional damping support in the system. The damping effectiveness of the power system stabilizer and controlled series capacitor under such conditions is investigated, based on the respective damping torque contribution. Parameters for the controllers are tuned for each condition of loading or impedance to provide optimum performance, based on the integral of squared error criterion. The discussion focuses on choosing the appropriate damping mechanism for a particular scenario of loading and system strength (external impedance).
