FATIGUE IN TRANSPORT: BACKGROUND, SOLUTIONS AND PROBLEMS

摘要

Historically, awareness of the mode of failure now know as fatigue, arose from failures of metallic components on the railways. All modes of transportation suffer from fatigue problems; particularly the vehicles and often the infrastructure.This paper reviews how the fatigue problems have largely been solved in the major modes of transport and indicates both where some difficulties remain and where new problems are arising.
