Cumulative fatigue damage analysis was employed to conduct a structural correlation of Ford and Chinese proving grounds to Chinese customer usage. Three vehicles, which represented small compact passenger vehicles, full size family vehicles, and light buses, were employed in the study. About 30 strain gage based channels were instumented on each vehicle at critical locations. Data was collected at proving grounds both in US and China and public roads throughout China. Statistical and fatigue analysis was performed and the severity of each proving ground durability procedure relative to customer field usage in China was determined.
