We show that x-ray emission can be enhanced by confining a laser-produced plasma in a rectangular groove. By using the plasma collision process, a time and wavelength (4-10 nm) integrated soft x-ray emission enhancement of 35 times was obtained at a groove width of 20 μm and a groove depth of 100 μm on a grooved Nd-doped glass target. The peak intensity of the x-ray pulse became 2.4 times larger due to the plasma confinement.
