It plays an important role in studying whisker reinforced composites to measure and characterize the whisker orientation degree. In this paper, according to the structural characteristics of β-SiC whisker, a new method to determine the whisker orientation degree is presented in reference to the previous research results on texture. It can be calculated using the relative X-ray diffracted intensity between the (111) and (220) lines of β-SiC crystals. Taking several green bodies of SiC(w)/Si_3N_4 composites prepared by different forming processes as examples, the suitability of this method has been proved.
