In this paper, considering lubrication status of gear teeth, the optimal design for the helical gear transmission is made by means of the theory of elstohydrodynamic lubrication(EHL). The results show that adopting the optimal scheme can effectively improve the lubrication status of gear teeth, reduce the failure and prolong the service life of gears.
