With the aid of F-s diagram, a force analysis is made for three types of belt drive: constant shaft force tightening, constant slack side force tightening and constant pull ratio tightening. Basic equations of belt drive are obtained. By combining them with the σ-t diagram, η-F_e. diagram and e-F_e diagram, relations between various variable could be perceived.
