WINAP - WOMEN'S INFORMATION NETWORK FOR ASIA AND THE PACIFIC

Since 1975 unquestionably awareness has increased dramatically on the disadvantaged status of women throughout the world and on the need to turn that around, both in the interests of social justice and of realising humanity's full potential in the challenges that face us. A number of formal steps have been taken, but the social and economic indicators reveal how far we are from achieving the goal of true equality. In the wide region covered by ESCAP, including over half the world's population and comprising a wide range of political systems, social structures, economic situations, cultures and religions the task is enormous. The free exchange of information on this process of change is an essential element in its accomplishment, and it is for this reason that WINAP has been launched.
