Strategic Human Resource Management and Social Capital: Evidence from People''s Republic of China

With the social capital theory be introduced into business domain, the concept of organizational social capital (OSC) occurred. OSC can be the mediator between the HRM and organizational competitive advantage. The existent literatures reveal that social intercourse and connection among the internal actors attach great importance to the key success factors of the organization. The purpose of this study is to investigate the OSC effect on the SHRM improving the performance. This study analyzed the data from 640 investigation questionnaires of 42 corporations, employing the multiple regression analysis, investigate the relationship among HRM, internal/external SC, employee social capital, executive SC and OSC, and organizational performance. The results show that, organizational HRM is associated with the accumulation of social capital, and positively affects organizational performance
