A General Purpose Communication Management System for Multi-User on Line and Real Time Systems to Telecom Management Centre

Need for a suitable Communication Management System over a lower level Communication Protocol is often felt during the development of a large on line and real time application systems operating on data at distributed places and communicating over a private network. A Management Centre (or Head Office) interacting with its different activity centres (or Branch Offices) over a star network represents a typical environment of many such applications. General Purpose Communication Management System (GPCMS), presented in this paper, is an attempt towards combining and generalising the individual needs of such application systems. Having features of tunability to several applications, GPCMS has, as an illustration, been successfully adopted by a large multi-user on line and real time system of Telecom Management Centre which proved useful in formulating the ideas of GPCMS.
