Source-controlled turbo coding of nonuniform memoryless sources based on unequal energy allocation

A source-controlled turbo coding scheme for nonuniform binary memoryless sources sent over AWGN channels is designed. The use of nonbinary signaling allows performance improvements over previous schemes. The source and channel parameters can be estimated in the encoding and decoding processes.
